Solid carbon dioxide cleaning machine

The working principle can be summarized as the "synergistic effect of three major forces" : kinetic energy impact, low-temperature embrittlement and micro-explosion stripping. And its composition structure is designed to perfectly realize this physical process;

The core components of a dry ice blast cleaning machine:

A complete dry ice blast cleaning system is usually not a single machine, but rather consists of several key parts working in coordination. You can imagine them as the coordination of a "feeding system", a "power system" and a "launching system".

The main functions and key details of the core components of the table:

  • The dry ice storage silo "ammunition depot" is used to store dry ice particles (usually 1-3mm in length), and it typically adopts a double-layer insulation design to prevent the dry ice from sublimating and volatilifying prematurely.
  • The "power source" of the high-pressure air source system is generally provided by an air compressor, which generates compressed air of 6-10bar (or even higher) to provide the power for the high-speed flight of dry ice particles.
  • The injection/mixing chamber "accelerator" where compressed air and dry ice particles are mixed, uses designs such as Laval nozzles to accelerate the particles to supersonic speeds (several times the speed of sound).
  • The spray gun and nozzle "launcher" control the direction, Angle and range of the spray. The material and shape of the nozzle directly affect the cleaning efficiency and impact force.
  • The "brain" of the control system regulates air pressure, dry ice flow rate and spray frequency.
  • High-end models are equipped with PLC touch screens and support automated operation.

The working principle of dry ice cleaning machines:

The essence of dry ice cleaning is a physical cleaning process. It uses solid carbon dioxide (dry ice) as the cleaning medium and peels off dirt through high-speed jetting. The entire process does not use chemical agents and generates no secondary waste. The specific working process and principle can be divided into the following three steps:

 1. After the high-speed jetting and kinetic energy impact equipment is started, compressed air carries dry ice particles out of the storage bin, accelerates them in the mixing chamber, and finally sprays them onto the surface of the object to be cleaned at an extremely high speed (usually up to the speed of sound) through the nozzle. This high-speed impact generates powerful kinetic energy, directly shattering and washing away the dirt on the surface.

2. Low-temperature embrittlement and thermal shock: The temperature of dry ice particles is extremely low, approximately -78.5℃. When they come into contact with the surface of relatively hot objects, a violent "thermal shock effect" will occur. Dirt (such as oil stains, carbon deposits, and gum) rapidly shrinks, becomes brittle, and cracks at low temperatures, significantly reducing its adhesion to the substrate.

3. Micro-explosion and sublimation stripping are the most distinctive features of dry ice cleaning. Dry ice particles absorb heat at the moment of impact and directly sublimate from solid to gas (without passing through the liquid state). During this process, its volume will expand by approximately 600 to 800 times within a few thousandths of a second. This intense expansion causes a "micro-explosion" in the dirt cracks, forcibly peeling off the already brittle dirt from the inside.

Applicable objects for dry ice cleaning:

Application fields Primary cleaning objects Core advantages
Mold manufacturing Tire molds, injection molds, rubber molds  Does not damage mold patterns, no need for release agents
Electronics and power Circuit boards, motors, distribution cabinets, transformers     Non-conductive, can be operated with electricity no static electricity
